Think back to a happy memory in your childhood. Was it time with your parents? A day out with friends? Christmas? Whatever it was, recalling it probably made you smile, didn’t it?
Royal Family KIDS of Allen County is committed to creating positive memories for abused and neglected children through a residential camp experience. Through these positive memories, we create anchors in the life of a child that can keep them steady, no matter what may come in the waves of life.
The camp maintains a Camper-Mentor ratio of 2:1, and is completed by nearly 100 volunteer each year. Camp encourages and builds up kids though non-competitive games, non-threatening activities, and meaningful time with caring, trustworthy adults.
Each camp volunteer goes through 12 hours of training yearly, with a full background check before they can serve.
Royal Family KIDS has served over 1,000 children in Allen County since its inception in 2000. In the years since, we have built up community support through various churches and businesses, with Lima Community Church in Lima, OH, as our home church.
The camp is directed by Patrick Kamler, who has been involved with Royal Family for 12 years. He is assisted by Megan Kamler, Harmony Brenneman, and Linda Balogh, who have over 45 years of combined camp experience between them.
Camp is five days in the summer, but we spend almost all year planning and preparing for camp. Whether it’s volunteer hours or funds, it takes people just like you to make camp happen!
